The vision of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk

[Photo of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk from ipb-magazine.com]

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (1881-1938) was the founder and first president of modern-day Turkey.

The following quote comes from the book, Ataturk, A Biography of Mustafa Kemal by Andrew Mango, p. 463 (courtesy of Robert Wolfe).

"I have no religion, and at times I wish all religions at the bottom of the sea. He is a weak ruler who needs religion to uphold his government; it is as if he would catch his people in a trap. My people are going to learn the principles of democracy, the dictates of truth and the teachings of science. Superstition must go. Let them worship as they will; every man can follow his own conscience, provided it does not interfere with sane reason or bid him act against the liberty of his fellow man."

Rick Santorum lies about Obama

[Photo of Rick Santorum from lawdork.net]

So, what's new?

Repugnicans and FAUX News commentators lie as a matter of course. The truth means nothing to them.

According to Media Matters, on the Feb. 12 edition of FAUX News' On The Record, hosted by Greta Van Susteren, Santorum said, in part:

"In fact, what we're doing is, in fact, not doing the other thing that we did in Poland and we did with the Soviet Union, which was to go out and condemn the regime for being evil and persecuting their people. Instead, what the president is doing is trying to engage them. Trying to talk to them. Trying to convince them to give up their weapons and instead -- their potential weapons -- instead of siding with the pro-democracy movement. He has not sided with them..."

In a statement on December 28, 2009, President Obama said:

"The United States joins with the international community in strongly condemning the violent and unjust suppression of innocent Iranian citizens."

Santorum is one of a number of Repugnican politicians who wear their religion on their sleeve, protest in the strongest terms their love for Jesus and their devotion to their god. Well, it's all bullshit. They lie as easy as they breathe. They have no integrity and no honor. Their religion is a sham, and their lives are built on hypocrisy!

We would say exactly the same thing about almost everyone of the people who work for FAUX News!
